Katherine McCartney

Executive Producer, Business Consultant

Katherine McCartney is an Executive Producer and leader in the Business Event Industry with a career spanning forty years. Attention to detail, strong focus and a pursuit of excellence drives her daily work practice and is recognized for her creative approach to business events. She is most widely recognized as Producer of the TED Conferences for the last eighteen years that has earned her the Business Events Canada “Global Vision Award” and Tourism Vancouver’s “Harold J Merilees Award”.

In 2015, the company she co-founded, Vancouver based PDW Inc and was awarded Event Solutions Spotlight Award “International Event Company of the Year”. Before opening her own business her event resume included working for Maritz London/IETO, Sunquest Incentives (Incentive Houses), Four Seasons Hotels, and Rare Indigo (DMC). While running the European Marketing Division of Tourism British Columbia (DMO) for eleven years, she was responsible for both tourism and business event development. It was during this time she co-created “Canada’s West Marketplace”, a thriving reverse tradeshow marketplace platform where Canadian sellers meet a global selection of buyers, now currently in its 30th year of operation.

As a business consultant to TED, having successfully sold her company assets to TED in May 2018, she remains busy working on all the main TED Conferences and TED special projects. Katherine’s interests currently reside in advocating, giving back and mentoring for the industry, while promoting sustainable practices. When she is not working, her curiosity ensures she is busy learning and growing while looking at the world with excitement at our respective futures.
